EYELID SURGERY

  • The eyes are often regarded as one of the most important features of the face. As we age, the eyelids are frequently the first area to display signs of aging. The skin and muscles around the eyes lose elasticity and strength, leading to sagging, wrinkled skin and the development of eye bags, which can give the appearance of tired or sad eyes, adding years to one’s appearance. This effect is especially noticeable since the eyes are typically the first feature we notice on a person’s face.
  • These changes tend to be progressive; they may initially manifest only in the morning but can gradually become more pronounced, with puffiness lasting throughout the day. In some instances, these symptoms may be inherited, causing them to appear prematurely early in life.

TYPES OF BLEPHAROPLASTY (EYELID SURGERY):

There are different types of blepharoplasty available to meet your individual needs. These options include:

COSMETIC BLEPHAROPLASTY:
  • This procedure primarily focuses on cosmetic improvements by surgically removing excess fat, muscle, and skin from the upper and lower eyelids. The goal is to restore a youthful appearance to the eyes and enhance overall self-confidence.
  • The final result of an eye lift is a more rested and attractive look, with a significant reduction in excess skin and bags around the eyes.
FUNCTIONAL BLEPHAROPLASTY:
  • Blepharoplasty can enhance vision by addressing hooded or drooping upper eyelids that obstruct sight due to significant skin laxity above the eyes. In these cases, upper blepharoplasty removes the excess skin, enabling patients to see without visual obstruction.
  • Most eyelid surgeries can be performed using local anesthesia combined with sedation.
CHANGING THE SHAPE OF THE EYE:
  • Blepharoplasty allows you to change and enhance the shape of your eyes. As we age, the ligaments that support the outer corners of the eyes and lower eyelids weaken, often giving the eyes a rounded, tired, and aged appearance. Many people find that an “almond-shaped eye” looks more attractive, youthful, and cheerful.
  • This procedure is more intricate, and while the changes may not be dramatic, the goal is to improve aesthetics while ensuring that the eyes look natural and are well-balanced with other features of your face.
