About Samuel Mattine

Samuel Mattine is a fully accredited, board-certified consultant surgeon with a sub-specialty in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He trained at several prestigious hospitals in both the UK and France. Samuel is one of the few surgeons in the UK to have achieved dual fellowship in Head & Neck Surgery and Craniofacial Surgery.

With extensive clinical experience and a practice exclusively focused on the face, Samuel offers clients unique expertise in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the face and neck. He has pioneered many innovations in surgery, including his signature Designer Facelift, and is renowned for achieving flawless yet natural-looking results.

Samuel provides a comprehensive range of state-of-the-art facial aesthetic procedures, including various face and neck lifts, eyelid surgery, rhinoplasty, otoplasty, bespoke facial implants, fat grafting, lip lifts, and procedures for the brows and forehead. He also addresses concerns related

to the chin and jaw, tailoring each procedure to meet individual needs. In addition to surgical options, he offers non-surgical treatments such as Botulinum Toxin injections, dermal fillers, and chemical peels.

Extensive Training

  • Mr. Mattine completed comprehensive training at several prestigious hospitals in both the UK and France. He graduated from Birmingham Medical School and undertook broad surgical training in general surgery, vascular surgery, trauma and orthopaedics, and breast surgery before spending time in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in the West Midlands.
  • He then pursued specialist higher surgical training in the Northwest and successfully passed the specialist intercollegiate FRCS exam. Mr. Mattine was awarded the European Association of Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery Leibinger Prize and the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) traveling fellowship, to complete a craniofacial fellowship in Paris. He refined his skills in modern aesthetic and plastic surgery procedures during this fellowship.
  • Upon returning to the UK, he was selected for one of the seven nationally awarded advanced interface head and neck/reconstructive microvascular surgery fellowships at the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead. Here, he honed his abilities in advanced facial reconstruction techniques.
  • Mr. Mattine has completed subspecialty training in facial reanimation and total ear reconstruction, training with internationally renowned pioneers in these techniques in France. He has also gained further international exposure in Hong Kong. He is a core member of the specialist head and neck multidisciplinary team and is involved in the specialist multidisciplinary team managing skin cancer.

International Reputation

  • Samuel has established an international reputation as an expert in facial surgery. He has made significant contributions to medical literature and is frequently invited to deliver lectures, keynote addresses, and Masterclass symposiums at conferences around the world. Additionally, he serves as an invited reviewer for several peer-reviewed journals, including the Archives of Craniofacial Surgery and the Journal of Wound Management and Research.
  • He has pioneered numerous technical innovations in surgery and utilizes the latest technology to enhance patient outcomes and minimize morbidity. Samuel has also been invited to demonstrate his surgical techniques at teaching hospitals abroad.

  • Mr. Mattine is a consultant surgeon in the Head and Neck Directorate at Worcester Royal Hospital.
  • He provides state-of-the-art treatments for Head and Neck pathology and cancer and is recognised as an expert in complex facial reconstructive techniques, including microvascular free tissue transfer and facial plastic surgery.
  • As a core member of the specialist Head and Neck multidisciplinary team, he has played a crucial role in developing Head and Neck services and establishing the unit as a leader in the field of Head and Neck Surgery.

Education

  • He enjoys teaching and is involved in training higher surgical trainees both in the UK and overseas. He is the designated Educational Supervisor for specialist trainees in Worcester and Hereford and examines for the University of Birmingham Medical School.
  • Mr Mattine is an invited instructor and faculty member of several international courses, including the Paris Face Meeting and the Gent Facelift Course in Belgium. He often lectures to large audiences in the UK, Europe, the Middle East, and the Far East.

Humanitarian Work

  • Samuel is dedicated to assisting those in need around the world. He often performs complex, lifesaving surgeries to address disfigurements caused by cancer, trauma, and birth defects in patients who have limited financial means or access to local medical resources. Over the years, he has operated on many such patients.
  • Additionally, this work provides an excellent opportunity to train the next generation of reconstructive surgeons and to enhance local medical services.
